BlackBerry Storm Better Than People Think?
Rants, Raves, and Thoughts... | Monica Simons | July 13, 2009 at 1:59 pm
This is the question that was posed on Rimarkable a few days ago. Is the BlackBerry Storm better than some people think? There is a second generation Storm due to release soon but I imagine that this is in regards to the first generation Storm.
When that was released it was far from Ready, this is not an opinion but mere facts. The OS was extremely buggy, lagging and overall a fail out of the box. RIM released upgrades, yet they were no where near where they should of been. I do understand the industry need to constantly keep up with competitors and maintain but at the expense of the device owner??
There will always be the "competition" between Iphone and BlackBerry, as we have discussed this on several occasions. Users tend to be loyal and devoted to a specific brand, although I know several site owners and avid BlackBerry lovers that use both. What warms my heart is that just the other day one of the moderators for Crackberry, and a good friend of mine, tried the new 3G Iphone and said he couldnt take it. He had to go back to his beloved BlackBerry.
In regards to the storm, its a lot the same way. There are those that say if you can deal with the few glitches on the first generation, knowing it will be buggy, that its a great device. There are others that say they would use it for nothing more than a toy and would never use it as a main device to email, instant message and text on.
In Consumer Reports latest smartphone survey, the iPhone 3Gs came out on top with a rating of 73 out of a possible 100 points. The BlackBerry Storm had a respectable showing with respect to the iPhone with a total of 69 points.
69 out of 100 surely is better than when we heard that not even 40% of storm users were happy with their phones, this was shortly after release. Yet not even 70%, really? I do hope that this new generation Storm with OS 5.0 proves to be much better quality than the first time around. RIM has had more thn enough time to make the proper change to what "could" ultimately be a great device.
